Mouse Telegram: Happy August! It's News Time!
The first week in August has brought some great and exciting upcoming news for the parks and beyond. Let’s recap all we know!
Heading into the water parks, since it's the dog days of summer now, we know that a new attraction will debut in Typhoon Lagoon next spring called Miss Fortune Falls! I’m a sucker for puns and this already sounds great. This will be a family style raft ride, which is one of my favorite ways to ride water rides, and will take guests through the fabled past of Captain Mary Oceaneer. With the ride time clocking in at just about 2 minutes, this is the lengthiest attraction in the Disney water parks. So pile the family in and head off next spring!
Blaze Pizza has opened in Disney Springs and offers “fast fired” pizza, which can be created entirely by you (think Subway or Moe’s but for pizza) or pick from one on their menu. There’s gluten free options, as well as vegan options. According to The Disney Blog, your pizza will be ready in just about 3 minutes! Talk about fast food! Looks like this will compete with Earl of Sandwich for a reasonably priced quick service option in Disney Springs, which is nice in light of the numerous sit-down options recently added.
There's a new experience at Steakhouse 55 in Disneyland for the Halloween season- Trick or Tea! Guests will get to enjoy some delightfully decorated treats, including some Nightmare Before Christmas inspired chocolate dipped strawberries, while sipping on seasonal teas, including apple pie green tea blend. Head to Disneyland.com/dine or call 717-781-DINE for reservations.
Disneyland has confirmed that Paint the Night Parade will end on September 5 as this was created for the 60th celebration. This goes along with the Disneyland Forever fireworks, which will be replaced with Fantasy in the Sky, and the World of Color- Celebrate show that is being reverted back to the original. So, while it’s heartbreaking that I never got to see this special stuff, it’s time for Disneyland to head into its 61st year with a ton of new stuff planned, including Star Wars Land, Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: Breakout, and I'm sure a bunch more. Now, I await WDW’s 50th anniversary...in a few years...
This November, aboard the Disney Wonder, "Frozen: A Musical Spectacular" debuts! This will go along with the many new renovations already planned for the Wonder. Clearly, putting this musical on the ship that heads to Alaska is brilliant and I cannot wait to go on an Alaskan cruise now! There's a bunch of talent involved in this show-find out all the details here!
Let’s talk shopping for a minute since, really, the best thing about Disney is all the fun stuff to take home with you. Three new Dooney & Bourke collections will premiere on the Shop Disney Parks App this month. Take a look below!
This week also debuted Tsum Tsum Tuesday, which included a lovely collection of Beauty and the Best characters with the main focus being the non-human characters. I love how they put Belle in her golden gown and the Beast in his matching suit. And we get a preview of the Doc Octopus mini tsum tsum! How can he be threatening when he’s so adorable?! There’s also the preview of the Muppets collections, which I mean, about time! Finally, we get more Star Wars mini tsum tsums to collect in the Tatooine collection.
There’s also been some rumors going around with Star Wars possibly coming to television, as per ABC’s Entertainment President Channing Dungey. Right now there are just conversations, but, who knows what might happen down the line.
So until next week my Disney family- have a wonderful weekend!
