Mouse Telegram: The Early Edition!
This week I decided to give you a recap of the news early since this weekend is going to be pretty packed. We have the 45th Anniversary of Magic Kingdom Opening on Saturday October 1 and the Muppets will debut in Magic Kingdom on Sunday with The Muppets Presents Great Moments in American History. So, with a lot of time planned in the parks, here's a brief review of this week's news. Stay tuned to our Facebook group and our Twitter and Instagram to follow along with this weekend's festivities.
Let’s start with the big announcement- Jon Favreau and Walt Disney officially announced they are collaborating on a re-imagining of The Lion King. The movie is being “fast tracked” to production, though no release date has been indicated. Favreau is also working on a sequel to The Jungle Book, which has earned $965.8 million worldwide since its April debut! Seems Disney has realized this man has a “magic” touch.
We also got a look at some of the merchandise for the D23 Destination D: Amazing Adventures. Going along with the theme of adventures, we have some great Jungle Cruise/Jingle Cruise shirts and pins, as well as something that seems to be more and more prevalent- the Society of Explorers and Adventurers! These designs are classic and a great callback for the 45th year of Magic Kingdom!
Disney Springs is getting the meet and greet touch with some royalty with A Princess Royal Reception, a month long event starting October 1, 2016. Each day, from 10 am to 4 pm, a special royal guest will be available for the royal reception, including but not limited to Cinderella, Snow White, Aurora, Tiana, or another visiting princess! Make sure to bring your princess down this October to World of Disney in Disney Springs for a special visit with one of the princesses!
It was National Coffee Day this week and we were given a look at some of the upcoming mugs for purchase. Here are some of my favorites.
Officially announced, the iPhone 7 cased are officially available at the D-Tech on Demand stations in Disney Parks. The park options are some of my favorite, with special highlights to the Twenty-Eight and Main collection. You can also find Star Wars inspired cases in the Launch Bay in Hollywood Studios and Tomorrowland in Disneyland.
Also heading to WDW in the ESPN Wide World of Sports in November are Men's College Basketball Tournaments, the Tire Pros Invitational and AdvoCare Invitational! The Tire Pros Invitational will take place November 17-20 and feature Arizona State, Clemson, Davidson, Missouri, Northern Iowa, Tulane, Xavier, and Oklahoma. Then, from November 24-27, the AdvoCare Invitational will feature three Sweet 16 teams- Gonzaga, Iowa State, and Miaia, as well as Big East Conference Champion Seton Hall. Other participants will include Florida, Indiana State, Quinnipiac, and Stanford. For each tournament, the bracket will consist of 12 games over 3 days with each team competing in 1 game per day. Make sure to go over to ticketmaster.com to purchase tickets!
More merchandise is heading to the parks for the upcoming Rogue One film. I'm just gonna let you looks because honestly, I want it all.
Get you sweet tooth ready because Sprinkles, the best sweet spot featuring the cupcake ATM in Disney Springs, is coming to Disneyland resort in November 2016.
And, finally, another underappreciated film comes to Blu-ray. You can take home The BFG on December 6!
