Mouse News: Labor Day Weekend Edition
Hello everyone! Last week was a slow week in news so I decided to take the weekend off. However, this week I’ve returned! Firstly, as you may have heard from this week’s Disney Magic Hour episode- we have a wonderful sponsor for the show- MEI Travel and Mouse Fan Travel has graciously offered to sponsor us! As you’re aware, we have used MEI Travel before when booking our Disney Cruise Line experiences and have suggested that our DMH family do the same whenever they plan a WDW vacation. Many of you have reported back that your experiences with MEI and Mouse Fan Travel have been second to none. So, once again, I just want to reiterate that we are super thankful to Ms. Beci Mahnken and her team for all their support, and of course I recommend MEI and Mouse Fan Travel for not only your WDW vacations, but any vacations you’re planning (including the non-Disney ones *gasp*).
News time! With the upcoming MNSSHP party ready to get started, we have some new merchandise up and ready for purchase. Again hosted by the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus, you can see some exclusive merch dedicated to them. Also, some new additions to the party includes some new recruits to The Creppa Crew- Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps from ZOOTOPIA will lead the crew and entertain guests along Main Street.
We also need to talk food as there will of course be some specialty treats offered during the MNSSHP, including chocolate worms and dirt cupcakes, vanilla spider cupcakes, and Halloween sugar cookies, at the Main Street Bakery; ice creams cookie sandwiches at the Plaza Ice cream Parlor; enchanted pumpkin spiced cupcakes at Gaston’s Tavern; ghoulish strawberry lemonade slushy at The Friar’s Nook; and my personal favorite- candy corn ice cream cone at Storybook Treats. Throughout the park, guests will also get to enjoy candy corn cotton candy, vampire Mickey popcorn bucket, Halloween popcorn bucket, Halloween hot mug, and poison apple stein! So much to enjoy!
Also regarding MNSSHP, a special PhotoPass Magic Shot will be available for guests who attend the party featuring everyone’s favorite parade leader- The Headless Horseman! There will also be the opportunity for a pic with the coachman of the carriage in front of Haunted Mansion, as well as Animated Magic Shots, as seen below!
Staying in Magic Kingdom, everyone’s new favorite Castle stage, Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire, show will have a new finale for the fall season. Starting September 2, 2016, the stage show will feature new costumes, choreography, and decor, as well as an original song from the duo who composed the show’s catchy “On This Day”, Brendan Milburn and Valerie Vigoda. Also starting on this weekend, a new fall edition to the Main Street Trolley Show! Everyone loves the new season!
Heading over to Disneyland, make sure you get one last ride, or more, on the Tower of Terror before it closed on January 2, 2017, for its change into the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout!
Also, for the Halloween season in Disneyland, a new Frightfully Fun Parade will debut at Disneyland’s MNSSHP! This parade will feature some spooky spirits from the deepest bayous of New Orleans to Halloweentown and beyond, according to Disney Parks Blog. The Headless Horseman will once again set the mood as he heralds in the parade on his midnight black steed and his jack-o-lantern head in hand. Then guests will be greeted by Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King, with Halloweentown residents in tow to celebrate their favorite time of year. Grim, grinning ghosts from the Haunted Mansion will show off their ballroom dancing techniques (they need to be on Dancing With The Stars next season right?), along with some grave diggers and hitchhiking ghosts! Dr. Facilier and the Disney Villains are a must in this parade of darkness, and will feature his friends from the other side! The parade will take place over 17 nights from September 23 to October 31, 2016, so make sure to get your MNSSHP tickets before they disappear!
Team up time- this time, it's ESPN and Marvel- two very random Disney owned entities to team up to be honest. However, to promote the most anticipated games, ESPN asked Marvel artists to help them out. Here are the covers depicting some upcoming rivalries.
Make sure to tune into TCM on Thursday, September 8, at 8:00pm as Treasures from the Disney Vault returns with an amazing lineup, including: Tugboat Mickey (1940), Treasure Island (1950), Davy Crockett and the River Pirates (1956), Disneyland Around the Seasons (1966), Those Calloways (1965), Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color: A Country Coyote Goes Hollywood (1965) , and Midnight Madness (1980). Be sure to hit that record button!
A sneak peak behind the scenes of the live-action Beauty and the Beast has everyone in love with some elegant characters. Here’s Lumiere and Cogsworth!
The Queen of Katwe has a TV Spot! I’m so excited to see this movie- I just adore Lupita Nyong’o more and more! And what better compliment to this movie than a song by another lovely woman, Ms. Alicia Keys has composed a song for the feature film!
I hope everyone enjoyed their week- now enjoy the Labor Day Weekend!!
