This week has been an eventful one with the beginning of Epcot's International Food & Wine Festival on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. This event will run through November 14, 2016, and will feature many special events and some ticketed events as well. Be sure to pick up your new passport book and keep track of all the food and drink you’ve sampled along the way. This year, the book includes a sticker page for you to place your own stamp/sticker after you have sampled something from a specific booth. I like this new aspect, despite the lack of thrill of having your book stamped, I think this is a great way to reduce time at the register and keep the line moving. I also enjoy stickers, so double bonus! Also, before heading into the World Showcase, be sure to stop at the Festival Center over near Universe of Energy to see the specialty items for sale and get a piece of chocolate over in the Ghiradelli area!
Speaking of food and drinks, the House of Blues will host 2 craft beer events in Disney Springs this September. The first, “Local Brews, Local Grooves”, was held on Saturday, September 10, 2016. The second event, “Big Storm Brewery Untapped Event”, will take place on Sunday, September 25, 2016, from 1:00pm - 5:00pm, and will feature Big Storm tastings and beer flights, with a live musician performing on the patio as guests enjoy their drinks. Head over to www.houseofblues.com for further details.
If you like building things with your hands, then does Disney have the project for you. The Disney Park Icons line from Metal Earth are now real! These 3D metal models allow you to build your own miniature Disney Parks Monorail, The Black Pearl, Cinderella’s Castle, Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, Cinderella’s Carriage, the Wonder Wheel, the Haunted Mansion and the Haunted Mansion Hearse, a Steam Train, and Space Mountain. Get crafting my friends!
The Coca-Cola polar bear will debut down in Disney Springs at the new Coca-Cola store. This will be a new interactive meet and greet located in Town Square at Disney Springs inside the Coca-Cola store. And, of course, this wouldn’t be complete without polar bear merchandise to bring home.
Heading across the country to Disneyland Resort, the dates for the Holidays have already been announced- November 10, 2016 through January 8, 2017, letting guests celebrate for 2 full months! The holidays will feature a new World of Color- Season of Light experience that combines festive holiday music and images of wintry wonderlands with moments from classic Disney films to set the mood. Also new for this year is Festival of Holidays in Disney California Adventure, where guests can enjoy diverse cultural holiday celebrations., including the popular Disney Viva Navidad! There will be sounds of special guest musical groups. What Disney event wouldn’t be complete without food? During the Festival, guests will enjoy 14 themed festival marketplaces featuring internationally inspired food and beverages. Princess Elena of Avalor will also debut during this Festival and then continue to visit guests in the park after January 8. The holidays will also bring some winter theming to classic attractions, including Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle featuring magical snowfall moments that conclude with Believe...in Holiday Magic fireworks, A Christmas Fantasy Parade, it’s a small world Holiday, Haunted Mansion Holiday, and the Jingle Cruise. Don’t forget to put in your gift requests with Santa Claus over at Critter Country. Also, head to Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, where guests can enjoy some festive fun with holiday-themed activities. So much to enjoy!
Also in Disneyland, not just one, but two new specialty eats will debut in the park for the final drops of the Tower of Terror. The Tower Drop Dog at Award Wieners entails an all-beef hot dog dipped in red-pepper ketchup, topped with grilled onions, peppers, and an onion crunch on a black noir potato bun, and looks as if it has been struck by lightning. Over at Carthay Circle Restaurant and Lounge, a new martini, The Drop, will also transport you to another zone with Midori, Irish cream, and grenadine. Fall in love with these new items while they last!
We have a new trailer for Moana! The more I see of this movie, the more the anticipation grows!

Well, that’s the week my friends. Head over to our instagram to see some of the pics from our week’s adventures, including a ton of Food & Wine pics (@disneymagichourpodcast). Don’t forget the new instagram stories where I may put up pics and not save them- these don’t last long (about a day) and are just fun little snaps of our adventures- but make sure you check them out as I’m hilarious as we all know (it’s ok, I don’t think Pete checks this). We will also do some live stuff on Facebook, either solely in the Disney Magic Hour group or via LastGen Podcast Page- so make sure you join the group and like the page and enable notifications. Hope to chat with you all soon! Till next week, enjoy some food and wine, even if you’re just in your p.j.s on the couch!
